Germany to Miss 2020 Plan of 1 Million Electric Cars, Welt Says

June 21 (Bloomberg) -- Germany will not reach its target of putting 1 million electric cars on its roads by 2020 amid signs that insufficient aid will be pumped into developing the project, the Die Welt newspaper said.

Germany may put just 600,000 electric cars on the road by 2020, according to a progress report of the National Platform for Electro-Mobility, the tripartite group of government, industry and researchers that is spearheading the project, Welt said. Germany has about 43 million registered cars, the newspaper said.
